Double Major Program (DMP)

Processes about DMP can be found in the B.U. Undergraduate DMP Regulations. DMP processes within SAD are summarized below:

  1. SAD Executive Committee announces the quota of each department for DMP by sending this information to the Registrar’s Office every year.
  2. SAD Executive Committee determines the application dates. SAD Student Affairs announces the DMP application requirements a week after the official registration period is over for advisors’ approval.
  3. Prospective students will take a petition form from their own departments, fill it out properly and deliver it to the SAD Student Affairs with their advisor’s approval. Students that deliver their petition forms will be informed about the process.
  4. Petition forms are forwarded to the concerned departments by the Dean’s Office of SAD.
  5. Departments send their final decisions to the Dean’s Office of SAD for approval.
  6. Decisions by SAD Executive Committee are sent to the Registrar’s Office and lists are announced by the Dean’s Office of SAD.
  7. Students that are accepted to the program should consult with their DMP advisor in their new department and their own advisor and take the required courses. Students are informed to register during the add-drop dates as stated in the B.U Academic Calendar. Students should complete their online registration with their advisor’s approval.
  8. Students on the waiting list are accepted only if the students in the permanent DMP list do not register. Waiting students should follow the progress of their applications by contacting the SAD Student Affairs in person. If they are accepted they will be informed about when to register. Students that are accepted to the program should consult with their DMP advisor in their new department and their own advisor and take the required courses. Students should complete their online registration with their advisor’s approval.
  9. If a student wants to withdraw from the DMP, he or she should write a petition form after consulting his DMP advisor and apply to the Dean’s Office of SAD. The finalized decision of SAD Executive Committee is sent to the Registrar’s Office.
